Snow leopards are very rare. There are only 7,000 in the world. They like the cold and live in the mountains in Asia.

Snow leopards have very long tails - some are nearly a metre long! They use their tails to balance on the rocks. Their tails can also cover their mouths and noses when it is very cold.

The usual weight of a snow leopard is around 45 kilograms. This is a little smaller than other types of leopard but there are big variations. The smallest female weighs only 25 kilos while the largest female can be 75 kilos.

The diet of snow leopards is usually small animals like rodents. But they can eat animals three times their size.

The feet of snow leopards are big and furry. They make good snow shoes!

Snow leopards live for up to 20 years.
